Junior Cycle

Core subjects taken by all students:

Exam:  
Irish, English, Mathematics, History, Geography, Civic, Social and Political Education (CSPE)*
Non-exam: 
Religious Education, Physical Education and Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE)*
Options
Students select four subjects from the eight listed below, one of which must be a language:
French Italian German Art Business Studies Home Economics Music Science

Civic, Social and Political Education (CSPE)

This is a course in citizenship based on human rights and social responsibilities.  It aims to develop active citizens who have a sense of belonging to the local, national, European and global community with an ability to fully participate in democratic society.  It is examined at Junior Certificate level by way of a written examination and project.

Social, Personal and Health Education (SPHE)

This programme supports the personal development, health and well being of students and helps create and maintain supportive relationships.  RSE (Relationships and Sexual Education) is part of the SPHE programme.  It aims to provide opportunities for our students to learn about relationships and sexuality in ways that help them think and act in a moral, caring and responsible way.
