| Gaisce – The President’s Award
| Congratulations to Sixth Year students Aoife Bourke, Alexandra Browne, Ciamha Foley, Roxanne Kerrigan, Lisa Kinane, Laura Massey, Laura Milner, Iseult O’Donnell, Eimear O’Keefe, Sally O’Moore and Rachel Runswick who received their Silver Gaisce Awards at a ceremony in Trinity College on December 15th.
The occasion was particularly notable as these were the first Gaisce Awards from President Michael D. Higgins, following his recent inauguration as the ninth President of Ireland.

| The Sixth Year girls undertook a variety of activities as part of their efforts in meriting a Silver Gaisce Award, including a gruelling 50km hike through the Wicklow Way over two days and nights.
Very well done to all recipients of the Gaisce Awards from everyone in Santa Sabina, particularly the Gaisce Pals, Mr Campbell, Mr McCaffery, Ms O’Dwyer and Mr Shea.
Many of the Transition Year students are also working hard towards their Bronze Gaisce Award. We wish them every success in their endeavours.

| Basketball Ireland Awards
| Congratulations to Fifth Year student, Michelle Clarke, who was presented with the International Under 16 Player of the Year award at the recent Basketball Ireland Awards.
Michelle was captain of the Irish Under 16 team that participated in the FIBA European Championships held in Macedonia. Michelle is also a member of Killester Basketball Club and is captain the school’s Senior Premier Basketball Team.

| Science Quiz Success
| Congratulations to Sixth Year students Róisín McMackin, Iseult O’Donnell and Jane Rowland, who were finalists in the Irish Science Teachers Association Senior Science Quiz, held in the Edmund Burke Theatre in Trinity College on Saturday 26th November. The event was part of Science Week 2011.
Schools from throughout Ireland were represented and Aoibhinn Ní Shúilleabháin was guest quizmaster. The Santa Sabina team performed extremely well and were a credit to the school. They finished seventh in the country, a truly wonderful achievement! Very well done to Róisín, Iseult and Jane and congratulations also to their Chemistry teacher, Mr Shea.

| | Rotary Club Cookery Competition | Well done to Transition Year student Wynn Ross who won the first heat of the Rotary Club Cookery Competition, held in the school on October 27th.
Wynn will represent Santa Sabina in the national heats of the competition in February. We wish her every success.
All participants in the competition received certificates from Una Kane of the Rotary Club at a recent school assembly. Well done to everyone.

| | | Art Competition Success Congratulations to Fifth Year student Sophie Ryan, winner in the Up to Leaving Cert Category of Walkers A Day in the Life of Dublin, Dublin Secondary Schools Art Competition.
Success in the competition resulted in Sophie and the school being awarded a prize of €5,000 at a reception at Walkers Offices in Dublin, on the afternoon of Thursday 27th October.
This is a fantastic achievement and everyone is Santa Sabina is delighted for Sophie. Very well done.
| | | | | | | Click image to enlarge | | | TCD Awards A number of Santa Sabina students recently received Entrance Exhibition Awards from Trinity College Dublin at a special ceremony held in TCD on November 28th. They were Emma Kate Cooney, Emma Dolan and Emma Menton and they merited the awards based on their excellent results in the Leaving Cert Exams in 2011.
Congratulations to the students and their teachers.
