EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

To complement its academic programme, Santa Sabina, Dominican College places great emphasis on sporting and cultural activities and so encourages all students to engage in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, such as:

Educational/Charity Projects

Comenius Project

Teachers and students are involved in the 3-year Comenius Project (2005-2008), funded by the European Commission, which aims to identify best teaching strategies and create and evaluate e-learning materials such as simulations, video clips and interactive multimedia.

e-Twinning

e-Twinning is a framework for schools throughout Europe to collaborate on the Internet to form short- or long-term partnerships in any subject area. St Dominic’s High School, Santa Sabina has been a registered e-Twinning school since 2006 and has forged links with schools and students in Germany and Denmark.

Pamoja Project

Transition Year students are involved with Trócaire’s Pamoja Project for Human Rights Awareness, working with the charity’s education department to research and run an awareness campaign about a targeted country each Lent. In 2007, awareness was raised about women with HIV/AIDS in Malawi and included a visit from a Malawian woman to the School to discuss the issue.
