| The Jack and Jill Chrildren’s Foundation Fundraising Campaign |
The Student Council in Santa Sabina, are participating in the second level schools “Jack and Jill Children’s Foundation” mobile phone campaign.
The foundation (www.jackandjill.ie) is an Irish charity that supports the families of babies who are born with or develop brain damage and who suffer severe intellectual and physical developmental delay as a result.
Today it provides home nursing care to 300 hundred families in Ireland and the recycling of mobile phones is its main source of funding, with 250 mobiles providing home nursing care for one child for one month. The service includes home visits, advice, information, funding, lobbying and bereavement support.
One of the most important lessons we will ever learn in life is learning how to help others.
Promethean, a company that supplies Interactive Whiteboards, has kindly agreed to donate to the school one board for every 500 phones donated to Jack and Jill. In January of this year the Student Council set a target of collecting 1000 mobile phones. I am delighted to let you know that at the time of writing, 500 mobile phones have been collected.
The Student Council would like to take this opportunity to appeal to you to assist us in this endeavour. We would be obliged if you would ask your family members, friends, relations and work colleagues to donate any old or broken mobile phones to the school campaign.
