| Debating News – Christmas ‘09 |
Students in Santa Sabina have been very busy this term participating in a variety of debating competitions.
Congratulations to the Fifth Year students who participated in the “Business and Professional Women”, Howth Branch, public speaking competition for senior students on Monday 9th November.
One of the most noteworthy competitions each year is the Concern Debating Competition which has been running for over twenty one years.
Congratulations to our Fifth Year team who participated in debates against The Institute of Education and Portmarnock Community School. I wish them luck in their future rounds.
Transition Year students enjoyed a weekend debating political issues in The European Parliament in Malahide Community School. They enthusiastically investigated and debated major issues concerning The European Union.
I would like to wish our Fifth Years the best of luck in their forthcoming “Mental Health Public Speaking Competition.”
Finally, I would like to express our appreciation to Karina O’Flynn (Debating Prefect) who, with her talented team, organised First Year in-house debating competitions this term. The First Year students really enjoyed the experience.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all First Years to participate in internal debates next term.
