An End of Year Message From Ms Cavanagh

Dear Parents/Guardians

As the end of another school year beckons, last September seems like yesterday and preparations for next September are already well advanced. Yet once again it has been a busy year.

The economic crisis continues to dominate our lives through our own personal experiences and via the media. Santa Sabina continues to need the voluntary support of parents. One third of the money spent by the school comes from parents. In addition, there is an outstanding loan on the AstroTurf Pitch, which must be managed. The Board of Management oversees all the schools financial activities.

I would like to thank all parents who made a voluntary contribution. I would also like to thank all those who have supported our fundraising events. The money is used to employ extra teachers, provide a broad range of subjects, a pastoral care system, sports facilities and sports coaches etc.

Despite the financial concerns, the school has been involved in a range of social, cultural and sporting activities. You have read about these in previous newsletters on the school website and in this newsletter. None of these events could have happened without the teachers, students and parents. Special thanks must go to them all for bringing the school community such joy and cause for celebration. It is so important to volunteer and participate. It does take that extra effort but it is worth it.

I cannot end my summer message without referring to the wonderful opening ceremony for the school sports facilities directed by Ann Cameron but made possible by the Board of Management, teachers, students, parents and friends. It was a wonderful event, which demonstrated brilliant teamwork and extraordinary generosity.

Finally, I would like to wish all of our exam students every success and to wish you all a happy and safe holiday.

Yours sincerely

Catherine Cavanagh
Principal
