ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards
      
Well done to 5th Year students Siobhán McGovern, Alison Shepherd and Iryna Mykhalevska who won the “Most Innovative Award” at the ECO-UNESCO Young Environmentalist Awards with their project, The Light Pollution Game.

RTE’s Aidan Power presented the girls with their award on Wednesday 12th May at a ceremony in the Mansion House.

Salter’s Chemistry Festival 2010
      
On Saturday 1st May, four of our First Year students attended the Annual Salter’s Festival of Chemistry in Trinity College. They were Rachel Dempsey, Zoe Dalton, Laoibhse Branagan and Karen O’Neill. It was an extremely enjoyable and educational day and all four girls did the school proud. Thank you to Mr Shea who accompanied the girls on the day.
      
Science Update
      
The BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, 2010

Our 4th and 5th Year students entered a number of exciting projects in this year's competition which took place in the RDS from January 13th to 16th. Well done to all of our participants and their teachers on all of their scientific endeavours this year.

Congratulations in particular to Transition Year students Rachel Finucane and Laura McDonald, whose project, To Investigate the Effects of Temperature on a Starch-Iodine Complex, was Highly Commended in the Chemical, Physical and Mathematical Sciences category of the competition.

Congratulations also to 5th Year students Siobhan McGovern, Alison Shepherd and Iryna Mykhalevska, who were also Highly Commended for their project, Learning Through Gaming, in the Social and Behavioural Sciences category of the competition. Very well done to everyone.
