The Spring Fair
The Spring Fair 2010, in aid of Trócaire, went ahead on a rather unsettled April morning, but the indecisive weather certainly didn’t put a damper on the great school spirit. All the students pulled together proudly to do their respective jobs, from selling to security and baking to face painting.

There was a great turn out on the morning as families from the parish and beyond milled into the main school, the grass outside and our beautiful state of the art Spórtlann.

Many thanks to all the generous contributors to the Fair who gave happily what they had for Trócaire. Special thanks are due to the following; Ray Collier, the Wheeler family, Dermot Quish, Dee’s Party Hire in Skerries, the Earlwood family, Tully’s Nurseries, Bayside Gymnastics, the Murphy family (Rebecca and Emma’s dad), Fresh Today and Kerrigans, both in Donaghmede shopping Centre.

The Art Auction was a special treat as it was hosted by Mr. Dermot Quish who retired last year. We are very appreciative that he came back to host this particular event which made over €900. The quality of the Art work donated was fabulous. Parents and students alike participated and it was beautifully run by 2E. The bidding occasionally reached fever pitch! There was even one individual who bid over the phone!

The Bayside Gymnastics team were a thrill to behold and kept their audience entranced over in the Spórtlann for the duration of the Fair. These highly talented gymnasts gave their time and efforts so generously and we would like to send them a special word of congratulations and thanks for all their efforts.

We are delighted to say that we raised in excess of €6,895 for Trócaire. Some money is still coming in and we are adding that to our total. This is a great achievement and we are very proud of all our students and their enthusiastic participation and good will. Many thanks also to the R.E. teachers who organised the event and all of the teachers and parents who spent the day working! It was a great cause, fantastic fun and a wonderful community event for all!

Thank you to Aisling Keavy (6th Year) for her help with the Spring Fair photographs.
