In our SPHE programme the student will deal with a range of issues. These issues will be addressed in the ten modules as set out by the DES syllabus for junior cycle. The DES recognises that each school has flexibility within this framework to plan the SPHE programme most suitable for the students and the school. Our emphasis will be on building skills, understanding, attitudes and values important to all these areas.

Homework policy:
Students will be asked to write a written reflection at the end of every class. This must be honest and the privacy of the student will always be respected. All handouts must be filed away in a folder or in their copy.
Assessment policy:
No terminal exam will be given because assessment is contradictory to what SPHE is about. All students will fill out a short questionnaire for student self-assessment at the end of the academic year. Modifications to the course content and evaluation of material will then follow.
Evaluation policy: |
| |
 | Informal communication with students
 | Teachers involved review and critically evaluate the merits of all resources being used on an ongoing basis.
 | Classroom observations.
 | Formal report written by co-ordinator to the principal at the end of the academic year. |
