Members of both the Junior and Senior Debate Teams had the opportunity to visit The Historical Society, known as ‘The Hist’, in Trinity College Dublin last week. The Hist is Trinity’s longest-running debate society and has seen many famous Irish women speak in its chambers including Mary Robinson, Mary McAleese and Sally Rooney. Students were given a guided tour of the society building, enjoyed a talk on the ‘fun side’ of debating and to top the day off were treated to some lemonade and biscuits during a Q&A on the competitive debate circuits. Santa Sabina would like to offer a heartfelt thanks to past student Eva O’Beirne who not only extended the invite to us through her role as the society’s communications officer, but also acted as a wonderful role model and inspiration to our students on the day of the visit.
