A huge thank you to all of the students who competed in our various Healthy Living Week challenges. It began on the 31st of March and finished the 4th of April. Over the course of the week, students could enter into a Steps Competition, tracking their steps over the course of the day. A huge congratulations to Gauri Sookur who came 1st, with a whopping 111,437 steps counted!
To start off the week, we had a Teacher vs 6th Year Students Tug of War Competition. With a great win from the teachers in the 1st round, let’s just say that the next round was ‘groundbreaking!’ The3rd round had to be cut short, as was the rope…
On Tuesday, students entered into a snack competition. The prize was for the healthiest, yet, tastiest snack. Congratulations to Annie Pederson who made ‘Peanut Butter and Dark Chocolate Breakfast Bites’. They were delicious! Other snacks and fruit were given to the students for free to eat at lunch time!
1st to 3rd year students competed against each other in PE class to be the class representatives in a variety of Athletics events. These included shot put, long jump and 60m sprint.

For the shot put in 1st year - the winners in order were (1) Sophie MacAuley (2) Joanna Mukanya and (3) Daria Borisova. In 2nd year (1) Erica McLoughlin, (2) Kate Maxwell and (3) Katie Herbert. In 3rd year (1) Zoe Sheridan, (2) Bianca Zaharia and (3) Niamh Tighe.
For the long jump in 1st year - the winners in order were (1) Lara Lodge, (2) Kate Gill and (3) Katie Carroll. In 2nd year (1) Evie O’Neill, (2) Aoife Ferguson and (3) Orla Mulhern. In 3rd year (1) Jenna Redmond, (2) Sophie Gahan and joint (3) Nia Lodge and Roisín Dorran.
For the 60m sprint in 1st year - the winners in order were (1) Kate Gill, (2) Grace Sullivan and (3) Carragh Nigfhlionn. In 2nd year (1) Saoirse Hurley, (2) Nia Lodge and (3) Alannah Moran.
On Friday, after a couple of years break, we had the Senior basketball, hockey and soccer team competing in the Inter Dominican Cup.
Well done to all competitors and to all spectators, it was an excellent week, with fabulous weather!
