Inter Dominican Cup 2025

On April 4th, 2025, Santa Sabina hosted the revived Inter Dominican Cup Tournament, the first tournament since 2019, as a result of the pandemic. The Inter Dominican Cup is a sporting tradition of over 40 years that saw Dominican Colleges from around Ireland showcase talent and teamwork in soccer, basketball and hockey as well as foster strong bonds within the Dominican College community.

Santa Sabina welcomed staff and students from Dominican College Taylor’s Hill Galway, Dominican College Sion Hill, Muckross Park College, Dominican College Griffith Avenue, St. Dominic’s College, Dominican College Fortwilliam, and Newbridge College. Each school brought their very best athletes to compete in the various sports being played. The basketball and hockey tournaments took place on the school grounds whilst the soccer tournament was played in Howth Celtic.

Throughout the day, matches were played with respect and integrity, showcasing the dedication and skill of every student. After many tough matches as well as the hotly contested finals, both basketball and hockey were won by Muckross Park while Fortwilliam beat our own Santa Sabina students in the final of the soccer.

Serving as more than just a sporting competition, the Inter Dominican Cup is a platform for building friendships, promoting sportsmanship, and celebrating the values shared by all Dominican colleges.

Congratulations to the winning teams and all teams for their involvement and effort. A special thanks to the organisers and TY volunteers who helped make the 2025 Inter Dominican Cup a great success!
